Pre-braking resistor to increase the braking effect The Edelrid OHM II is the revised version of the tried-and-tested pre-braking resistor to support belaying when there is a significant difference in body weight in the rope team. By specifically increasing the braking force, it significantly increases safety and ease of use - especially when there is a weight difference between the belayer and climber. Functions & benefits Braking force boost in the event of weight differences Actively reduces the climber's fall energy and makes it easier for the belayer to maintain control - both when holding a fall and when lowering Swivel joint for free movement The new generation allows free alignment of the device in the quickdraw carabiner - regardless of the direction of attachment No interference when leading The OHM II does not generate any additional rope friction when releasing the rope. The lead climbing remains undisturbed. Safe handling thanks to optimised locking system Opening, closing and inserting the rope is much more intuitive and safer than with the previous model. More safety when falling into the first bolt The fall energy is effectively reduced, minimising the risk of a collision with the ground or wall. Target groups and areas of application Sport climbers with a significant weight difference in the rope team Climbing gym operators (for training, hire or training groups) Climbing courses and training Advanced belayers who want to belay more comfortably. Particularly useful for: Light belayers (< 70 kg) who belay significantly heavier climbing partners Top-rope and lead belay in indoor or well-secured outdoor areas Technical data Compatible ropes: Single ropes 8.9 - 11 mm diameter Weight: approx. 470 g Minimum weight of the person being secured: 40 kg Increases the weight of the person being secured by approx. 25 kg Sling standard: EN 566 Carabiner standard: EN 12275 Standards & information Not PPE, but an additional belay aid Only to be used in conjunction with an approved belay device and rope Only to be used by trained persons
Innovative belay experience: Versatile belay device with blocking support The new pinch belay device from Edelrid is revolutionizing the world of climbing and rope access technology! Designed for sport climbers, multi-pitch climbers and professional applications in rope access technology, this device offers a completely new level of safety, comfort and, above all, versatility. Unique innovation: Hook directly onto the central ring of the harness For the first time, a belay device can be hooked directly into the central ring of the climbing harness. Thanks to the low, close-to-the-body position, the brake rope is always held with all fingers without the pinch having to be fixed when paying out the rope. This not only improves control, but also ergonomics when belaying. More efficient rope payout and lowering The compact belay system enables an increased span and allows the belayer to pay out 20 to 30 cm more rope. The frontal steel brake grooves ensure a linear rope path, effectively reducing rope tangling when abseiling or lowering. In addition, the lowering speed can be precisely controlled thanks to a sensitive interaction between the brake hand and the lowering lever - ideal for thin and soft ropes. Maximum safety thanks to the anti-panic function Another highlight is the integrated anti-panic function, which offers both beginners and experienced users an additional feeling of security. Particularly lightweight people benefit from the second braking stage, which enables controlled lowering even with high rope friction. Experts and users of rope access technology have the option of permanently switching off the anti-panic function using a screw provided. Flexibility in multi-pitch lengths The Edelrid Pinch is unique on the market: it can be hooked in four different directions, each in 90° increments. This means that the safety lever can always be optimally positioned to ensure maximum freedom of movement and easy operation. Details Certifications: EN 15151-1, EN 12841-C Material: steel, aluminum Suitable for dynamic ropes with a diameter of 8.5 to 10.5 mm Suitable for static ropes with a diameter of 10.0 to 10.5 mm (max. 120 kg user weight) Suitable for right- and left-handed people Close to the body position thanks to direct belt connection Anti-panic function can be switched off for more safety Frontal brake grooves made of steel enable linear rope path Hanging at the belay station in four different directions in 90° steps
